Lexi and Guy first met in 2015. It was at the Irish Oak bar in Chicago, after a Cubs baseball game, they were introduced through friends.

As soon as Lexi heard Guy's "Aussie" accent she had butterflies. They talked, joked and laughed for the rest of the night. Despite best efforts from a few other ladies, Guy couldn’t take his eyes off Lexi, and recalls clearing thinking "there's something special about this girl". There was something in the way they looked into each other eyes. A sparkle? A spark? A "what if…?".

Sometime after midnight, it started pouring down with rain outside. Guy turned to Lexi and asked, "do you want to dance in the rain with me?" "Absolutely!" she replied, as though before he finished the sentence.

They slow danced together, Notebook-style, in the pouring rain in the middle of the street.

From that moment on, it was like a fairy-tale. Guy and Lexi fell head-over-heels in love. They built a life together in Chicago. Guy supported Lexi as she finished her college degree, Lexi cheered Guy on as he found a career, they made amazing friends, had lots of nights dancing in Wrigleyville, saw the Cubs win the World Series for the first time in 108 years, and shared their first home(s) away from home, together. Chicago will always be the beginning of their love story.

In 2018, they moved (back) to Guy's home in Perth and the next chapter began. Both found passion in new careers. They bought a car, Lexi learned to drive on the 'wrong' side of the road. They bought their first home, and lets not forget Guy surprising Lexi when he brought home their fur-baby, Kyga, as an early Christmas present in 2019.

It was October 2020 (and we all know how that year was going), when for her birthday, Guy surprised Lexi with a staycation at COMO The Treasury in Perth. On the morning of her birthday, Lexi found a note saying "Welcome to your Birthday weekend. Pack a bag for 3 nights, you'll need something 'cocktail-y' for one of the nights. Be ready at 2pm…". Guy has always been so romantic (Lexi's words) that she did not suspect a thing!

On 23 October 2020, dressed in their hotel bathrobes, sipping champagne on the balcony, Guy asked Lexi to marry him. She answered the same way she did on that first night... ABSOLUTELY!
